Less than one third of adult Californians have received education beyond high school. If a modest 26.6% of the population are attaining a Bachelor’s degree or higher, a majority (73.4%) are taking a different path. Now, as much or more than any time in history, the need to offer alternatives to college degrees is heightened, and Continuing Education is meeting the need.
SAN DIEGO—African-American student enrollments in colleges and universities are at astonishingly low levels throughout the state. This is particularly true of African-American male students. In addition, statistics show that more than one in five public school students in San Diego County will drop out of school by their senior year. If you disaggregate this information, the African American and Latino student drop out percentages increase to 41.7% and 30.3% respectively.
SAN-DIEGO—The California Alliance of African American Educators (CAAAE) recently honored Dr. Anthony E. Beebe, President of San Diego Continuing Education, with a highly coveted Culturally Courageous Leadership award. Over almost a decade, Beebe is one of only four in the state to receive such recognition.
SAN-DIEGO—San Diego Continuing Education offers four certificate programs locally at the Continuing Education Cesar Chavez campus, located at 1960 National Avenue. The classes needed to complete the certificate programs are free, and students may enroll anytime.

SAN DIEGO—“Repeat after me,” is usually the first statement from a US Citizen and Immigration Services agent who leads groups of people toward US Citizenship with an Oath of Allegiance. Next you hear a chorus of people break through exploding silence with “I hereby declare, on oath…” and so it begins.
SAN DIEGO – San Diego Continuing Education offers free computer classes and open labs to adult students at six campuses throughout San Diego. Classes are standardized at each campus so regardless of which campus a student attends, they receive the same instruction.
