Spa Day = Day Off

Working full time can only be understood by the work force. I’ve spent a lot of time complaining about comments my friends make about work—friends who do not work full-time, and some who do not work at all. I’m not on-board with stay-at-home parents who say they are working too, “but in a different kind of work”. Sorry but I’m sticking to work = paid employment and accountability to a boss. When you are the boss, you are accountable for the work.

Making breakfast doesn’t count. Unless someone paid you for the short stack.

Why are these unemployed friends so quick to defend their unpaid work as work? Isn’t it true that the first response to guilt is defense? I’m not implying that taking care of a home (including any humans or animals you share it with) is not important work, but it’s certainly not paid work and it doesn’t count when you’re asked to raise your hand if you want to take a day off, visit the spa, and dream of not working.
