Continuing Education is a Strategic Partner to the Business Community in San Diego

The San Diego Community College District has a strong reputation and 20+ years of experience in providing employer-sponsored training and education in San Diego through the Employee Training Institute (ETi). Now ETi and the District can expand to include national and international workforce solutions through active membership in the Global Corporate College (GCC) network.

Membership will permit full access to the entire database of contract training curricula from all GCC members’ colleges and also allows referrals for the District to and from the network. Educational leaders such as Anne Arundel CC, College of Lake County, Ivy Tech, and Tacoma CC are also part of this comprehensive network.

“Cassandra Storey, the new Executive Director of Customized Training for ETi will generate new contracts for workforce training by meeting with San Diego’s business and public sector employers to determine the best fit for customized training based on needs,” said Jane Signaigo-Cox, Dean of Career and Technical Education at Continuing Education. All contract opportunities will be referred to the relevant college (City, Mesa or Miramar) or to Continuing Education.

The Global Corporate College benefit is that training is customized to fit specific industry needs and standardized so training is delivered consistently at all locations either in-person or online.

Existing classes have been customized by ETi to meet specific business needs, such as designing an auto technician class specifically for the International Rescue Commission’s immigrant population; and dedicating special skills to meet the needs of BAE welders, and developing English training for Quantum Design’s manufacturing employees.

Established in 2008, Global Corporate College was founded by leaders of entrepreneurial colleges and universities. The organization leverages the best learning industry practices with the resources of accredited academic institutions.
